14. Endless stairs

~Shreya's POV~

Within half an hour, we were in front of the temple. Shrida had once told me about this during our phone call. It had 250 stairs and the belief was that climbing them with naked feet made sure that your wish will be granted. I was so excited to do this. Shrida and others had reached here before us so they might have even entered the temple by now. I held Myra's hand and started climbing. Maheer and Vedant were also walking beside us. You know who beside whom already. We were on almost hundredth stair when Myra tripped and Maheer held her other hand to support her so I left her and let them walk together.

We climbed further when I saw a dog coming downstairs towards us. I freezed and stopped at a stair when Vedant swapped sides with me and entangled his fingers with mine as we held each other's hand and climbed further. I was again a blushing mess and lots of butterflies were dancing in my stomach. I looked at him in awe when he held my hand tighter and passed a smile. His face radiates warmth and peace and I just wished these stairs were endless and we kept walking like this for whole life.

We finally entered the temple as we completed all the stairs. Everyone was waiting for us. As we entered, they gave us a strange look which I didn't understand but Vedant immediately untangled his fingers from mine and we stood two steps apart. I noticed Shrida eyeing me and indicating towards Myra. I looked at Myra and Maheer and realized they were still holding hands. I lightly pushed Myra indicating the same thing and they also stood apart.

I go to a new place and not get embarrassed. Aisa ho sakta hai kya? Nahi bilkul nahi. And now I am passing my embarrassment on others too. Great!!! At least I am not alone in this. Huh!!!
(Is this possible? No never.)

Joining our hands , we stood for the prayer and closed our eyes to wish for peace and harmony for the new couple. As I opened my eyes and turned towards him, I saw him already looking at me and he turned his head towards the idol instantly.

~Vedant's POV~

Damn, I just turned my head towards her and was lost in her serene face when she caught me staring at her. The number of embarrassing moments I am experiencing these days is a question to my existence honestly. I rarely used to be this clumsy but since I have come here, awkwardness has grabbed my throat and is not ready to spare me. Anyways, not my fault, she is looking so beautiful today, well she always does. If allowed, I can spend my whole life staring at her like I was doing a while ago.

Back to reality, we are in the car returning to Shrida's house. In our way, Myra wanted to eat something spicy but Shreya stopped her saying they were already eating a lot in the wedding. Well, she was right but the strictness was a little too much as if Myra was her patient.

I don't get this woman, god. One moment she is so calm, peaceful and delicate and the other she will be acting like a lady boss guiding everyone and ordering them to behave. Both versions are my favorite by the way.

I remember her scolding Shrida last night because she denied eating dinner but also after that, she fed her with her own hands. Strict but sweet.

~Shreya's POV~

We entered the parking area by 9pm, a little late than others because Anya asked me to purchase bangles for her since hers broke while packing and she did not want her outfit to ruin. So, we had to stop in the market and it took around one hour to find the exact shade matching with her lehenga.

Maheer and Myra went inside and I waited for Vedant to park the car. He got down and as I turned to walk, "Shreya" he called. I hummed looking at him. "Ummm can I- can I have" He stuttered for the first time. Mr Arrogant was stuttering and I enjoyed this.

"What?" I asked raising my eyebrows although I knew what he wanted. He gave me enormous amount of nervousness. Now his turn.

"Actually I just thought if I ever want to- You know like when-" Awww!!! He was looking so cute while trying to form sentences. Okay, enough. I am not this cruel.

"Give me your phone." I said raising my right hand and making a platform with it in front of him.
"Huh?" He exclaimed.
"Phone!!!" I said again. He put his phone on my hand. I entered my number and gave it back to him.

"Here, Dr Shreya Rathore, MBBS, available for your help 24/7" I said as an advertisement. He laughed at this and called me after saving my number. I also saved his and we walked away to our respective rooms.

"Thanks yaar bach gayi "Anya said as I handed her the bangles.

We were about to sleep when we heard a knock and Myra opened the door to find Maheer. He looked as if he ran all around the house and was sweating. He said entering the room in panic "Guys did anyone see Vedant?"
