~Vedant's POV~

"Sorry"

I stood stunned hearing her voice and the phone fell down from my hands. I kept my hand on my chest to normalize the increased breathing rate, then picked up the phone.

I took a deep breath and got my composure back. Is it really her? But how? Why would she be here? Wait, I maybe hallucinating.

Doing all this, it was obviously stupid to expect whoever it was to wait for me to turn and take a look.

But I turned around in a hope to get at least a glimpse of them or her. As expected, the person was gone.

It is getting worse with time. Now I have started hearing her voice too. Wow. Kill me at once please. Wasn't this much enough for you? looks at the sky saying this

No, you must be having more special moments to throw at me. Go on. looks down sighs

Few days later

Kirti Mansion

"All set?"

"Yeah" I answered dad who is really excited for today's event.

I am kind of nervous since it's been two years to be in limelight. I mean, it's an event solely organized for my return to the company as a CEO. I hope I don't mess up on anything, specially my health.

Kabir sent me the speech last night. I have learned it and everything is set but still, still there is something wrong in today's vibe. I feel something is going to happen and my gut feeling never goes wrong.

Only god knows what more drama he is going to add in my life.

"All the best big bro" my little munchkin wished me and I left for the event.

~Shreya's POV~

KGC

"Welcome ma'am, have a seat" the manager of KGC guided me to my seat. I have heard a lot about this company but honestly, this is my first time coming here. I never attend such parties. But since papa is on a business trip, so I had to fill his void. It was all a last moment plan.

I didn't even read the invitation. He asked me to take a bouquet so that's all I did and reached here. How stupid of me to handle the invitation to the guard without even reading it myself.

I don't even know the name of the owner. joker emoji Yeah, that is how I feel right now.

"Hello Doctor" I got up from my seat as someone came and forwarded their hand for a greeting. I shook their hand.

"You are from ____ company, right?" "Yes, pardon me for my father could not join you today." The conversation continued for some three minutes and finally some details, he is the owner of the company and it's an event for his son. I was giving him the bouquet but he jokingly asked me to wait for his son and left.

I thought I would hand him the bouquet and leave. Honestly I am bored. I would have brought Myra but she was busy.

"Hello everyone" a man came and started the event. He went on telling about the company and all for some half an hour. How do they have this much to talk, yaar? Jaldi khatam karo
(Finish it soon, man)

"And to end the wait. We finally welcome the CEO of KGC, Mr." and my phone rang at the ultimate moment.

"Shreya, can you help me out. There's a complication." Myra said from the other side and at this, I got up, put the bouquet there and immediately came out of the venue.

While I was walking out, I heard cheerful claps as people must be welcoming the CEO.

I came out to the parking area and guided Myra as she was in the operation theatre. These things are normal in our profession. Many a times, even the specialists take suggestion from each other. This is how it works. Sometimes, I have to look up to her advices and vice versa the other times.

After some fifteen minutes, the call ended and I moved back towards the auditorium but was stopped in the middle.

~Vedant's POV~

"We finally welcome the CEO of KGC. Mr Vedant Saxena." I entered the stage and moved to the podium taking over the command.

People showered cheerful claps and some stood in my respect. I was almost nostalgic seeing all this as if it has been an eternity.

"Sir, people are waiting" Kabir whispered from behind as I was lost in looking at the scene in front of me. I nodded and began with my speech.

As I was done, I went to meet some company owners personally. They congratulated me and handed some bouquets which I, one by one, passed on to Kabir to keep them aside.

I was walking further when my eyes fell on a bouquet filled with white tulips kept on a table. There was no one at the seat.

"Kabir" He hummed looking into the direction where my gaze was fixed from past few seconds.

"Did we already meet that owner or is it left?"
"Sir actually, the owner could not join the event due to some unavoidable circumstances. Someone else came on his behalf. She was here a while ago. I think she left."

I went to the table and picked the bouquet.
"Sir" Kabir called me as I got lost in adoring the flowers. Losing brain cells is definitely showing its effect. I have received a hundred bouquets prior this, today only and still I am here looking at this as if I never saw a flower in my whole life.

I received Vaani's call and came out to pick it. "Hey bhai everything happened well" She is in college but she still called me to ask my well-being. Why are sisters so sweet?

"Yeah all good. Don't worry. Go focus on your lectures" I asserted and the call ended. I was going back to the auditorium when I heard someone laughing.

Wait, is it again? What the hell is wrong with me? Why would she be here? I mean hospital was fine Vedant. This does not have even a one percent chance to happen.

Dear brain just shut the hell up. You didn't hear anything okay.

"Haha" I heard again. Is it just my hallucination or she is actually here? But how?

I returned to the main area and my eyes went all over the parking lot.

Just as I was about to give up, my eyes landed at the unbelievable sight.

It was her.

I was not hallucinating. It was her sugary voice that caught my attention.

My eyes forgot to blink since my gaze landed on her.

Two years, yes. It is after two years that she is in my view. It seems all the darkness has faded away and the sunshine has returned.

My eyes brightened as I saw her laughing wholeheartedly. Her laugh. Oh how much comforting it is to my heart.

I wish I could record it and keep it with myself forever.

Idiot, you have your phone. Do it quick before she notices you.

I looked down at my phone and unlocked it but then a realization hit me.

I again looked in her direction.

Now, my eyes observed the full view instead of being focused on her divine face.

She was holding an infant who was making all those baby sounds. Her hands caressing its face and the baby's hand trying to reach her face. The innocent movements of the child being the cause of her endless giggles.

~Author's POV~

Flashback begins

"Dear can you help me for a minute." A lady came towards Shreya. She looked at her and held a grin recognizing the woman.

"Oh Mrs Verma, you here?" "Yeah, actually. I had come for an event. But, then this cutie started causing trouble so I just came outside."

"Well guess it was not a good idea to bring him to a business meeting ma'am." The lady chuckled at this.

"Well how can I help?" "Can you please take care of him for some time? I hope you aren't in a hurry"

Shreya agreed and carried the baby in her arms leaning at the bonut of her car.
